Family and friends just don't realize what an accomplishment that is some days. Just to get up and face the day.

Lazy day for me too, but I needed one. It's nice once in awhile. I did manage to do some domestice duties, yoga, and I'm going out for dinner with my dad and daughters tonight.

Goals for this week:
schedule an appointment to get my taxes done (been on my list for awhile)
schedule and appointment with my insurance agent
take clothes to the resale shop
get groceries

Virgo--thanks for keeping it going!!!!!!
CBB-some days...heck some weeks getting up (and if you can showering and getting dressed) is goal enough!

I've got a week of being all over the place between two 12 hour days at "old job" and three different projects for three different clients...my week is  FILLED with work...my goals are to eat healthy, get enough sleep and keep the house looking presentable...I am always really worn down for at least a week after spring daylight savings (I know ridiculous...it's just an hour...how can it affect me so?)

If I accomplish anything else I will come back to share because I know I will be excited!

Get through this weekend intact. Sounds easy enough right?

I resolve to:

1. Get off my lazy widda ass and return to regular yoga, Zumba and running. I used to be a health nut; now I'm just an unhealthy nut! Womp, womp, womp!

2. Finally paint my upstairs game room. I think I've finally grasped that it ain't gonna paint itself. And don't think I haven't waited to see if it would!

3. Procure myself a coffee-fetching cabana boy. Only kidding!

4. Eat more healthfully. Valentine's and Easter candies are not substitutes for meals.

5. Join a new life group at church, one that doesn't revolve around which lady is ovulating and who might turn up preggo next.

5. Learn that "no" is a complete sentence, because I stress myself out way too much by saying "yes" to too many things.

I went to the store, but just for a few things. My major grocery shopping will be done Friday or Saturday. Other then that and going to the gym I didn't mark anything else off of my list.

I haven't marked anything off of my weekly list, but I did get a few things accomplished today.  Plus a few small 'fix it' projects.

This weekend, I must scoop some dog poop in the yard.  Since the snow has melted, it has revealed loads of poop.

I'm having one of "those days"....still in pj's ...lots of changes going on around me and I'm not good with change (great that I get to be a widow...the breed that gets to deal with change the most!)...so I'm heading down the rabbit hole and realized I better find my way over here and set goals before this spirals down completely...
Take shower.
Vacuum and steam mop floors.
Dust.
Three loads laundry.
Clean bathroom.
Organize papers that are starting to make a pile on the desk before they do become a real pile!

So even if I feel down...if I can push through and do it at least I will be down but with clean hair and a clean house!

Post by: MissingSquish on March 14, 2015, 02:27:08 PM
Ok, I scooped a lot of poop today, but I have a bit of the yard I didn't finish yet. It's raining here today, so it's a bit harder to pick up.
Title: Re: **Daily/Weekly Goals**
Post by: IfIonlycould on March 14, 2015, 04:44:18 PM
Ok through fits and starts and distractions...
House is vacuumed, steam mopped, kitchen and baths are sparkling, 1 load done, one in dryer and one in washer...I am headed into the shower and then will crack open a beer and sort through the small pile of papers before it becomes big.
And you know what? I feel better...in part thanks to wids on this board and because I now have an incredibly clean house and the rest of the weekend to do what I want.

Hi IIfonlycould,

I am thinking of getting one of those steam mops because I am getting tired of doing the Irish washerwoman maid thing- I am Irish- what brand is yours, if I may ask? What type of floor(s) do you have?
Title: Re: **Daily/Weekly Goals**
Post by: IfIonlycould on March 14, 2015, 05:24:09 PM
Shark steam mop...I have all hardwoods even the kitchen and 1/2 bath and swiffer or vacuum them first and then steam mop.  I still do the  washerwoman hands and knees on the bathroom ceramic floors though...but the steam is good for those too.

You can do it, MMg!

Laundry is pretty much done
Clean dishes were put away
Most dirty ones are in the dishwasher (aside from stuff that needs to soak)
Went over my health insurance claims as well.

Good job MissingSquish!!

I had a friend drop by this morning to look at my dryer. Unfortunately it stopped heating yesterday while I was doing laundry. We ordered a part. Hopefully that works. If not I'll call a repairman. My water heater also stopped heating this week, but my father in-law was able to fix that for me. If you don't laugh you'll cry, right?

Goals for today:

clean 3 bathrooms (1 done)
sweep/mop/vacuum
start gathering tax papers

Ok goals for today:
Clean out fridge (done)
Go grocery shopping for week
Scoop some more poop
Put away clean clothes

Clean clothes are put away.
Grocery shopping is done (though I had a panic attack while shopping). I hate grocery shopping with a passion. The stores by me are always extremely crowded and there are so many rude patrons. They ignore you when you say excuse me. Seriously my blood is boiling right now.

I might feel up to scooping poop later, but defintely not right now.

Began painting upstairs game room. Woot!

Attended first yoga class in who knows when! Unleashed that fury!

Completed re-certification test that I have to do yearly.

Barely missed sofa surfin'. Boy, if I had energy, I may very well be unstoppable...lol.

Woo hoo!  I really love this thread.  As I have explained in more detail in various places over the years, having a place to hold myself publicly accountable is a great motivator for me.  Seeing others succeed is as well, as is knowing that others don't meet all their goals and that is okay.  Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread, whether you are trying to motivate yourself, trying to motivate others, or most likely a bit of both.  Thanks also to those who are out there silently cheering everyone on.

Goals for the week of 3/23/15 to 3/29/15

 - Complete all tasks on daily todo list at least 5 out of 7 days
 - Figure out what to do with large game sized priority mail boxes (fyi - they are free and i accidentally ordered 100 rather than 10.  That is a lot of boxes for a small apartment.  Any environmentally friendly suggestions here would be helpful.  You are not allowed to just drop them off at the PO...)
 - Assemble bed (for those who know the history on this one, I think it might actually happen on Monday.  fingers crossed)
 - Find out why computer no longer has sound and can only play the shortest of videos since being repaired
 - Grocery shop
 - Taxes :o
 - List like a maniac on ebay
 - Get involved on the health and fitness thread
 - Get involved on the minimalist thread
 - Get involved on the crafts thread - this one is particularly important for me personally when it may not seem to be at first glance as physical limitations sometimes prevent me from getting involved life in other ways.

If I get all this done before the clock strikes midnight next Sunday, I will be back like a bad habit with more.

I could totally use a "kick in the pants" to get my motivation revved again.

Things I need to accomplish this week:

1) Clean kitchen and MOP FLOOR
2) Continue with the decluttering purge
3) Finish some sewing projects

Things already accomplished:
1) surface cleaned three bathrooms.
2) laundry and dishes
3) grocery shopping

Small steps can lead to giant accomplishments...

This Donna needs a kick in the pants too!

My list this week:

Car inspection
Make vet and kennel appointment
Make gyno and mammogram appointments
Pay bills
Laundry
Try on summer clothes in prep for vacation (widow weight yo yo means I have no clue what fits)
Arrange airport transportation

Does anyone else have an issue with making appointments/ picking up the phone?? I have no idea why this is such an issue for me!

I detest scheduling appointments and being on the phone too Trying. I put it off as long as possible.

I didn't get a lot accomplished today.

swept/mopped 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and the hallway
cleaned 1 bathroom
put dishes in dishwasher away
cleaned kitchen

I'll have to think about my specific goals for this week. I don't know if I really want to get into a project this week. We'll see.
Wednesday all four of us have dentist appointments.
Thursday I told my 7yo I would have lunch with her at school.
Friday is my appointment to get my taxes filed.

Today I bought a small tree to replace the huge one that fell on my house 3 years ago.
I've been lovingly caring for a 6' bare patch (circle of dirt) in my front lawn for 3 years planning this. The neighbors wrote me off as nuts ages ago I'm sure.
I'm almost finished digging out all the old roots & am having the new tree delivered Thurs.
It won't be big enough to provide shade for a year but then neither does a patch of dirt, lol.
I also bought a roll of short decorative wire fencing to go around the parameter so every dog in the  neighborhood will stop dropping by to do their business in my beautiful dirt circle  >:(
Then I plan to shop for some cheap summer flowers to plant around the inside of the fence surrounding the tree. I hope it doesn't come out looking too terrible.
I can ill afford this on my piddly budget but I'm just so sick of being reminded of what was everytime I look at my front yard. It was landscaped for a tree in that spot & it's obvious one is missing. (Doesn't help that I live next door to a landscaper who's yard looks like a resort!
It's spring & that means a fresh start. I sorely need this mentally so expense be damned.
It only cost me around $100. I got a cheap, fast growing 6' evergreen that will never get large enough to require a professional tree trimmer so by my calculations I've already made my money back (It's scary how my mind works, lol)

Eventually I will get out of my PJ's but so far I got the dishwasher loaded and running and unpack the last bag from camping last weekend. I plan on doing 2 loads of laundry and if I get really motivated I hope to get my kitchen floor cleaned- God it's gross right now.

For this week I plan to:
1) get the house ready for Easter
2) Get my bedroom back together
3) Get all the donations OUT OF MY HOUSE- They have only been sitting in boxes in my hallway for 4 months!
4) Get the girls Easter pictures done.

What I got accomplished today:

 paid bills/balanced check book
 cleaned kitchen
 gathered trash, garbage, and recyclables
organized computer closet (not quite finished)
got together tax paperwork for my appointment Friday
 sorted and folded laundry
 mopped and swept floors

Finally there is sunlight!!! I get motivated when there is sun. When the estate company came to get the furniture I thought things would be easier but actually there seems to be more stuff to deal with.

I discovered more clothes of his and more of mine. I am getting to the point that I want everything that is too big for me to go, although some of them hold memories like the teeshirts I bought in Hawaii for $2 a piece at the Aloha Stadium's flea market.

My to do list for the week -

1. Get a skirt to wear at Saturday's Leather & Lace dance. - done :)
2. Bag up all the clothes and finally take them to Goodwill! - still working on figuring out which ones I want to keep for me
3. Break down some more boxes before tomorrow and put them in the trash. done :)

Hvnbound- If it's difficult for you to let go of the t-shirts you could always have a t-shirt quilt made for yourself. Just an idea. I kept all of my LH's t-shirts. He had enough for all three of our daughters to have a quilt made. They're being made right now. They can't wait to see them!

Dentist appointments (check!)

Yay! I got my new Fraser's Photinia tree planted today..

What a workout that was digging out all the roots for 3 days, sheesh! I'm sore all over, but I got it done, all the dirt aerated/conditioned & the hole dug.
A gardener passing by saw me strugging & offered to give me a hand removing the tree from the pot & setting it in the hole.  I was so grateful as it weighed a lot!
I also got the decorative border installed around it. It looks really good even through the tree needs to mature & fill out (they grow fast though). I think I got the perfect tree for that spot.
Just just need to pick up a few summer flowers to edge the border with to make it pop.
I'm so happy I did this!
Now I will have a nice shade tree next to the driveway & for the little built-in bench next to the garage & I can stop rueing the day I lost the old tree.

Next up: Install the new tarp I bought to cover my backyard pergola.
It's only the start of spring but we're getting summer temperatures here already. It'll be 91 Friday!

(((hugs to all)))

Up way too early, so I decided to read through this whole thread to get some inspiration and motivation.  Can I give a group WOOT?!?!?  Y'all are doing great.  KEEP IT UP!!!

Virgo - thank you so much for starting this thread.  The accountability and encouragement really does help me so much.  Remember, sometimes life happens and we accomplish lots but the list remains the same.  That is when you add to the list and mark it right off immediately  ;D  Hope everything is ok with the water heater and dryer - those days/weeks do suck.  Your "not much done" looks pretty good to me!

CBB - Huge hugs to you.  Simply waking up is sometimes a major accomplishment.  Stick with us, girl.  We get it.  Baby steps.

IfIOnlyCould - Don't ya just hate it when work gets in the way of getting stuff done?  HA.  You are doing great!  WOOT!

JacklessSally - Hugs to you.  So many major hurdles, especially early on in this journey.  Be gentle on yourself while you get er done.

Baylee - If you master the art of self-painting homes, please do let me know.  Every day I look at my kitchen floor and it is the same poo brown.  Maybe if I buy paint and set it in there?  We need pics when you finish!

MissingSquish - HA.  Your first post to this thread redefines "I have shit to do".  :o  I can't say I miss those days, but it is well worth it.  Organized your sock draw, huh?  Did you get to make any sock puppets out of strays?  WOOT!

Marian - Irish washerwomen has me laughing.  I tend to be an all or nothing gal.  I can have sparkling corners in the midst of chaos and mayhem throughout the rest of the house.  Those seam cleaners are great on hardwood!  Have not tried on on anything else.

mmg - This thread really helps me - glad it helps you and others as well.  Did you get the Shark?  Aren't they cool?

DonnaP - Sending a swift kick in the pants and a WOOT!

Trying - You go girl!  I have the same issue with making appointments.  If they aren't made, they can't be missed, right?  Losing strategy, I am working on it.  You just motivated me to schedule my mammogram.  I was supposed to do that three weeks ago.  I promised myself I would go yearly like clockwork.  My first was Jan 2, 2011 - two weeks out.  I am slipping almost a month a year.  Not bad at all, but not what I promised myself.  I will call in 1 hour 59 minutes and set it up.  Thanks!

Questions - what a huge and cool accomplishment!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!

Thalginsluv - Much can be accomplished in one's PJs.  Don't knock that!  Although flylady recommends getting dressed to your shoes.  She must sure wear out a lot of footwear  8)

HB - YAY sunlight!!!  WOOT.  It sure can be rough to run into reminders like that stray shoe.  Sending hugs. Virgo has a good idea about the t-shirt quilt.  I may do that with the few things I am still hanging onto, though it will clash with itself something fierce LOL

^^^^THIS is when I need this thread most.  If I am in the habit of posting regularly, it is much more likely I will come here when I need to.

Now to get off the keister and start DOing instead of just WOOTing...

Okay..Over the weekend I managed to clean out my closet of useless stuff I don't wear or haven't seen in years. Why they were still in my closet after I moved a year ago? Clueless!
2. I went through my sons clothing and parted with the majority of his things. That was a really messed up day! 5 months and it is still killing me in the inside. But I did it. I kept a few shirts in hopes that once my sanity returns, I will make a quilt or something.
3. I keep trying :)

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Taking some baby steps gave me a little purpose today . Thanks to all of you here :)

I finally got my taxes filed. It cost me, but it's done. H&R Block is expensive. I'm getting a decent return from the Feds, but I had to pay quite a bit to the state. Fun, fun! Mark it off my list!!

Good job everyone!
I think we all know no accomplishment is too great or too small on this journey.

Well, I did get my butt out & shop for summer flowers, then I came home & mowed/edged my front yard & planted posies around the new tree.
I just hope I can keep them alive now..
I think my yard looks so much better with a tree in this spot even though it's still tiny.
Photinias are supposed to grow 3-4 ft every season so in a year & some luck I should see this starting to pay off..

My neighbors have all been commenting on it. My nextdoor neighbors called it "awesome" (well it's not much to look at & is far from awesome, lol) but it made me feel really good to know someone is happy to see me making an effort to improve.. A little encouragement goes a long way!

I also did also get the tarp installed over my pergola & the patio spiffied up.
I rewarded myself by having a BBQ & candle-lit tequilla party out there with my cats after the sun went down. The weather is beautiful here & I'm trying my best to enjoy it.

I also researched a bird on the internet I've been hearing a lot of since I moved here.
Hearing it brought back memories because I remember hearing daily as a child but never knew what kind of bird it was. Finally figured it out by listening to soundbytes on the internet: Mourning Dove (go figure).

Keep up the good work everyone & don't forget to reward yourselves for a job well done! :)
(((hugs)))

Questions it looks great!  It will be so much fun for you to watch it grow and fill in and the flowers around the base will really add a pop.  Your home and front yard are very inviting, from your descriptions in the past I wasn't expecting it to look so perfect.  You have a lot to be proud of!

I'm also more than a little jealous of the green grass and outdoor BBQ since we are still a combination of snow and mud here!

Questions your house has a nice curb appeal. The tree looks nice. I like your side walk and front windows.

I accomplished a small project today. I hung my Family Birthdays sign (finally) and filled in all of the birthdays. I framed scrapbooking paper in two metal photo frames to hang above the birthday sign to use as 'white boards.' I like how it turned out.

It feels good to mark things off of my list. Even if it's just a small project. I'm hoping to get another project done after dinner.

Thanks!

Trying, When it's 115 degrees outside (which from the looks of it won't be long from now, lol) & I am melting like a marshmallow in a forest fire I promise to be jealous of your weather.
You'll be outside BBQing, meanwhile I'll be trying to squeeze myself into the refrigerator  :P

Virgo, Your Birthdays Sign sounds cool!.. What an innovative idea.
Pictures? I'd love to see how it came out..

It's so much fun doing artsy projects.

I've been looking for some seating for the south side of my house. There's a big area with nothing really in it & I'd like to have a bench there but they're so dang expensive & what if someone decides to steal it?.
So I thought, ok how about a few bricks or cinderblocks & a board laid over the top. That's pretty cheap. Ugly too, I doubt anyone would want to steal that, lol

Just for drill I googled "brick & board bench" & that's when  I saw this idea on Houzz.
I think it's really cute & the best part is: No sawing/hammering required. Just bricks & pavers stacked & a board sandwiched in between. Probably would cost all of $25 & I could use the armrests to set cascading potted plants on which would add some greenery to an otherwise bland patch of dirt. Definately worth a try..

Keep up the good work everyone! :)

Got my list complete this past week!  We are getting ready for a getaway to Florida Wednesday so this weeks list is short and mostly about getting ready for vacation.  I have to work today, Monday and Tuesday so I need to be organized.

-put a hold on mail and newspaper delivery
-get a mani/pedi because my toes are making their spring debut!
- last minute toiletries and sunscreen
-pack and help youngest pack
-Send my mom Easter flowers since we won't get to see her
- confirm coverage for my patients while I'm away and email treatment plans
- make reservation for Easter lunch in Florida for us and inlaws

I have always been a "list" person, I need to start posting here more consistently, you are all very motivating!

wow Questions! I absolutely love the tree and the flowers in the yard! Awesome job ! And the bench idea is great! Very impressive. You have so many wonderful ideas. I may borrow a few. I am slowly building a stone wall up one side of my driveway.. sort of out of necessity as the yard is very sloped and I don't want it to wash out on me! I will try to get a picture posted to show you some of the progress. I started last fall but the weather and life factors slowed me down.. Mixing concrete and lugging all the stones takes a toll on ya after a while..but spring is coming soon and I am determined to get it finished by summer..**crossing fingers**

Keep up the amazing job you are doing! You so ROCK!

I didn't make the birthday sign. A friend of mine makes signs and I told her exactly what I wanted. I love how it turned out. I just filled in the birthdays. I'll see if I can figure out how to share a photo.

I'm still working on getting ready for our city garage sale. I'm also working on small projects. Illness is going through our house, so I haven't been very productive. My daughters have spring break next week, so I'm hoping to paint their bathroom.

My goal for this week is to not get sick!! (haha)

Trying,
I hope you have a wonderful time in Florida! If the sun doesn't come to you, go to it. Good idea!
Enjoy :)

CBB,
You're an inspiration. I can't even imagine how much work building a retaining wall would be but if anyone can get it done I know you can!  Kudos for being proactive & heading off a potential problem at the pass! & please do post some pics when you can..

Virgo,
Good work organizing for the garage sale & on all your projects!
(Do post some pics if you can.  The attachments option works pretty good..
So sorry to hear about the illness in your family. Keeping my fingers crossed you don't catch anything & wishing everyone else a speedy recovery..

Family Birthdays sign without the dates/names attached. I do have them attached now.( Also, the dry erase frames.)

I haven't started painting the bathroom yet, but I'm planning on buying paint tomorrow so I can paint Friday.

I started cleaning and organizing in my scrapbooking/craft room today. What a mess! I can see the floor now though. Lol! Yes, it was that bad!

Virgo, The birthday signs came out nice!

Good luck with your bathroom painting project...
I'm sure it will turn out looking nice!

I had to paint mine too. Apparently it was navy blue repainted beige but they didn't put enough coats on so the blue was bleeding through in places.
It turned into quite the project as they also painted the bathtub with wall paint (why on earth would anyone do that?) & the caulking had to be stripped out & redone too.
It was a lot of work but definately worth the effort..

(((hugs)))
Happy painting!

Since last Friday until yesterday I felt horrible and here it is Friday already, nothing really has been done all week and then on Monday, I work Opening Day at Busch Stadium. Oh why oh why did I have to feel bad this week? I wanted to get so much stuff done before the season.

Next week the only days I have off is Tuesday and Sunday. I am thrilled about having money come back in since the plan is that whatever I earn from this job will become my savings since the money from the auction I can live off of for a few months. (Both of my parents are impressed by how I have managed to survive on just a few part time jobs or the selling of my things, good, glad they are proud of me because I am too!)

So next week my goal is to finish going thru the clothes and to finally take them to Goodwill - why is this task so challenging to me? I cannot wear my bigger clothes and cannot wear his. I have got to get it done!

I started my daughters' bathroom. It's going to be a work in progress for awhile. I got two coats painted on all but one wall. I have a guy friend coming over to help me take down the light fixtures. I'm going to spray paint them black and paint that last wall. I still have to buy some new hardware (towel racks, toilet paper holder, rain shower head) with a black finish. My mother in-law is going to help me make a shower curtain. It's going to be like a rag quilt. I already have the material. My brother is also  helping me make custom mirrors. My 13yo and 7yo daughters share a bathroom, so I'm trying to incorporate their favorite colors. I'm painting the walls a light grey. The hardware will be black. Their rugs are a dark pink. Their shower curtain is going to be a mix of patterns (chevron, polka dots, zebra) and colors (aqua, light pink, dark pink, black, white, grey.)  My friend made a sign about 'princesses' with all of those colors (love it!.) Like I said, a work in progress. I just hope it comes together fairly quick. I'm just worried about my brother. Lol! I might have to go with a basic wood framed mirror and paint it. I won't wait on him for very long.

Good job Virgo, sounds nice!
& get er done HvnBound, you can do it!

Grrr! The dogs still don't want to give up using my tree ring for a toilet. Even though I fenced it with 4' high chicken wire inside the decorative wire fence they still keep digging around the outside & leaving nasty surprises. I read that if you cover river rocks with Vicks Vaporub & leave around they can't stand the smell & will go elsewhere. Tried that but it didn't work. So today I put 4 buckets of lava rocks around the perimeter to cover the exposed dirt & 6" wooden skewers pointy side up every few inches where I want the grass to fill in.
Danged dog came back & did his business right on top of one of the skewers!
So I sprayed the whole area down with plant safe dog/cat odor eliminator. If this doesn't work I guess I'll have to snipe the yard with a BB gun. Sheesh!

I also raked & weeded the entire back yard today & swept all 3 patios.

I found a new in box 10x10 canopy on Craigslist yesterday to shade my master bdrm patio. The poles & stakes look sturdy enough but the cover looks like pretty cheap plastic.
I guess I should've looked inside the box before buying but I met the seller in a parking lot.
I'll be surprised if it lasts more than 1 summer but for $15 it was just too good a deal to pass up, lol

You're gonna laugh at this: I wanted to hang a decorative hook to hang my hand mirror in my en-suite but being too lazy to get the drill out decided to do it manually.
I ran into trouble making the screw holes deep enough to fit the plastic screw anchors so I took the screwdriver & hammered it into the wall to the reach the desired depth.. but then I couldn't get it out! I tried pulling it out with the the claw end of a hammer & the screwdriver's plastic handle came off leaving the metal shaft stuck in the wall, I tried yanking that out with pliars but no luck.
So instead of a decorative hook I had this screwdriver shaft sticking out of the wall. Nice!
After struggling for nearly an hour I finally gave up trying to extract it,  grabbed a hacksaw & sawed it off flush with the wall, spackled over it & repainted.  I was then able to mount the hook an inch lower using shorter screws. Not a good day for interior decorating, lol

Wondering what tomorrow will bring...

Questions...love the story! Invariably my "shortcuts"  end up the same way yours did!

Decided I better get on here and make a commitment to getting stuff done today...with the way I'm feeling I could see heading down the rabbithole and looking up at 8:00 tonight wondering where the day went...and this is why I like this thread so much, because like AC has said (and I paraphrase) this thread works best when I'm at my worst!
Today:
Shower
Vacuum house
Steam mop floors
Clean bathrooms
Dust
Wipe down the front of kitchen cupboards
File papers
Hopefully BF will be able to fix dryer...we realized it wasn't heating yesterday and began the troubleshooting process...bought 2 possible parts and replaced..not those..store closed...new day so he is now out getting what he now knows will be the part to fix it.
Do laundry when dryer gets fixed.
Pay bills and take the ones I still mail to post office

Well hopefully getting stuff done will help my frame of mind!

A few hours later I am "editing" my post to say:
I have finished with all of the house cleaning....opening windows to let all of the fresh spring air in and making mental notes of unfinished projects in each room (I purchased, completely gutted and remodeled this house last year doing much of the work myself but there are still little nagging projects in almost every room to be finished!)
I'm going to jump in the shower, write up the bills, file the papers and head out to drop at post office, later I need to work on a client project for only about an hour...and then call it a successful day.
Oh and BF came back with dryer part but got called out before he could install should be back in a few hours and hopefully I will have a working dryer or it's off to the laundromat.

Questions, do you want to come do my yard work? You got a lot accomplished in one day. Yard work is hard work! I did laugh at your story. I improvise quite a bit too. I guess we'll learn as we go. Thankfully I have a few guy friends that are willing to help me out when I ask. Asking for help is hard for me though.

IfIonlycould, you got a lot accomplished too!

I finished painting the bathroom today. I also painted the bathroom light fixtures. I really how they turned out. I figured since I was already painting I might as well paint my filing cabinet too. I've had the paint for awhile. It started out great, until I ran out of paint. I ran to the local hardware store, but they didn't have the same paint. I chose a similiar color. The color was really close, but the spray can was junk. It kept bubbling up and spitting out paint in between spraying. Aggravating! Now I'm going to have to buy more paint and start over. I'll definitely buy two cans of the original brand I started with. It's definitely better quality. I'm planning on finishing it tomorrow. I have a friend coming over to help me install the light fixtures in the bathroom too.

I ordered a few items for the bathroom (toilet paper holder, towel racks, shower curtain rod, outlet covers, and a rain shower head), so I'll be doing bathroom projects all this week as those items come in. I'm going to start on the shower curtain too. That's the plan for this week. The bathroom and getting my butt to the gym!

It feels good marking things off of my to-do list!

Virgo-Wow! Bathroom project almost done!
And yes I too would love it if Questions would come stay with me for a week and do an extreme yard makeover!
That will be my posting all summer for goals, the exterior work, this house that I have gutted and remodeled still needs the exterior completely done, I am the ugly duckling on the street.

Today I am finishing laundry (yes BF was able to fix dryer and what a help that was as he normally stays out of all of my remodeling projects over the past few years but will jump in when a fix it is needed if he knows how to do it). Then after laundry:

Today:
Beautiful SUNNY spring day with a hint of the summer to come (finally) so I am headed out for a drive alone, first hit the opening day of a weekly farm/flea market north of here and then keep driving to one of my favorite small summer "resort" towns to see what's happening there and walk the beach...I need a ME day to get away from stuff that has been weighing me down and recharge.

Good job Virgo on your bathroom project!
& IfIonlycould on all the work you got done! (I think you need to change your username to "ICan"  :D

I was going to like both your posts until you suggested I come do your yardwork for you, lol
I can barely keep up with my own. I try & do one yard a week, alternating between front & back & it IS a lot of work. Still, I don't feel I have any room to complain because having a big yard was high on my house-search criteria.
Of course, if you were willing to PAY me, we might be able to work something out because I'm still unemployed & don't exactly have money fallin' outta my a%%,  lol.
I accept cash, visa, mastercard, spa memberships..

Keep up the good work!
Reading this thread is what keeps me from planting myself in front of the TV & eating Cheetos all day..

HvnBound- that has to feel good to reclaim your master bedroom!

I received most of my bathroom hardware today. Of course none of the old hardware fits the new, so I had to patch up the walls and paint the patched areas. Tomorrow I'll attempt to put everything up on the walls. My curtain rod came today, but it wasn't wide enough. I apparently ordered the wrong one. (ugh!)

I replaced two light bulbs in my garage, which was a chore. My garage is a mess, so I had to move stuff around to get the ladder under the lights.

Just odd jobs today. I put my indoor/outdoor Easter decor away today too.

Virgo, yes it sure does feel great! I delivered all of the clothes to Goodwill today :D Done. I have a meeting with a possible buyer on Friday, he is one of those we buy houses people. But if he offers me more than $50K I will probably sign just to get rid of the house. Not sure if I really want to clean off the smoke off the walls, then prime and paint in order to sell...we will see what he offers first.

Good job everyone!

I'm exhausted from haggling with Comcast & DirecTV on the phone these past few days.
Comcast keeps raising my rates inexplicably. They told me to call them Sunday for a promo discount but when I did they refused. I went off on them & told them I was cancelling my service & switching to DirecTV (which could save me a ton of $$). But when I called DirecTV back to finalize the order they gave me the runaround too retracting the offer they'd made me just 2 days before.. so I went off on them too & withdrew my order.  Today I called Comcast & got them to cancel some of my services to get my bills lowered. It would still be cheaper going with DirecTV but they probably hate me for accusing them of being every bit as shady as Comcast so probably best if I let them cool off some 1st, lol. I myself feel like I've been through a war.  It shouldn't be this hard to get people to keep their word, yet somehow I feel guilty for trying, lol :-X

Questions-Do you have W.O.W. or AT&T where you are at?  I have found both to offer excellent customer service and good pricing.
Today is day off so:
Pick up package for a client (ok a wee bit of work)
Clean the kitchen
Drive to a very cute shop 30 mins. away to get the birthday gift they are holding
Groceries
Wash towels and bedding
Vacuum house
Pick up mail
Get "Lawn Restore" fertilizer (this is the year to start the long process of getting the lawn in order, previous owners never raked leaves EVER so lawn is in major disrepair)
Fix dinner and prep dinner for tomorrow

Questions- sorry you're having troubles with customer service. This is why I've avoided dropping my LH's phone through Verizon. Just less hassle to pay the little extra a month for now.

I managed to get my toilet paper holder up by myself yesterday. The one side is just a smidge higher, which is bothering me. I'm debating if it's worth changing to even them up. It was an ordeal! I've never used a drill before. My LH's tools are everywhere in our garage. I had to find the drill, drill bits (still looking, but the drill had one), and a level. The level wouldn't fit between the toilet and the vanity, which is part of the reason it's not even. Ugh. I did measure, but I'm thinking making the holes larger made them unbalanced. The drill bit was a little small for the wall anchors, so I made them  larger as I drilled. Then I hit a stud on the very last hole I drilled. I'm learning. I'm going to search for the drill bits, so I get the recommended size for the holes. I'm also going to search for our stud finder, so I'm not surprised if I hit one. lol

My dad took me out for lunch today.

My list for today and tomorrow.

run dishwasher (done)
handwash dishes (done)
put new drawer organizers to use
cut up cardboard boxes to recycle
laundry
clean bathrooms
sweep/vacuum/mop floors
organize filing cabinet
gather bags for Good Will and take them to GW

Ok, you guys are making me look bad..
So I plan to get out of my pajamas this afternoon & go mow the front lawn  8)
I also need to prune an orange tree out back & rake again since the recent winds have distributed a fresh layer of leaves.

Thanks for the tips regarding ISPs. If I go with DirecTV they bundle with ATT for phone & internet service. The 2 companies have in fact merged but still require separate installs & aren't on the same page as far as pricing goes apparently. Ah well, crisis is over for now, I'll deal with it later when my bill goes up again after some Prozac.

Keep up the good work..
You guys are inspiring!

Yesterday, I took my son to the dentist. His wisdom teeth are coming in and causing problems, including some serious pain, and need to be surgically removed. I managed to get the surgery scheduled, to prepare food he requested (thinking it would be easy to chew), to pick up pain meds for him, and to provide the oral surgeon with my insurance info, so they can give me an estimate in the cost. I also contacted the ex, who offered to help pay for the surgery. Yay!

Today, I finished clearing out Kenneth's things from underneath the bathroom sinks and got rid of everything in both bathrooms that is not essential. When I get ready to move this Summer, it should take less than five minutes to pack up both bathrooms. Next project: the hallway storage cabinets, which are packed to the gills with Kenneth's belongings.

So far this week at work, I rearranged my classroom for state testing, scheduled several parent meetings, and completed some very important paperwork that needed to be taken care of.

For the first time in a long time, I feel as though I have been semi-productive.  :)

I got everything done yesterday except getting the fertilizer but I'm headed off to work a 10 hour at the "Old Job" so with the commute making it almost 12 hours I may not get the fertilizer today either. So goal today:

Get through the workday.
Get fertilizer if hardware store still open.

Up and moving...I have a birthday brunch to attend today.  I am hitting a farmers/flea market on the way to the brunch (searching for the perfect bedroom chandelier/fixture).
After I would like to try to take a few items back to various stores I have been putting off.
Look for and hopefully find a new pair of sneakers.
Get through a couple loads of laundry (I had a bin of towels in storage and they now have that plastic smell, plus I have old sheets and dropclothes that need to be washed and stored away for next project).
Figure out dinner for the next couple of days.
Find one small project and do it, which leads me to new strategy:

I began a gut and remodel of this house last year and while all of the big stuff has been done there still remains a ton of small nagging things (that all add up!) and when I look around as a whole it becomes overwhelming...where to begin? So I have decided I will pick one small thing a day that is not on the standard house maintenance/cleaning list and do it...eventually it will all add up!

Title: Re: **Daily/Weekly Goals**
Post by: Questions on April 19, 2015, 07:00:58 PM
Good job everyone!

I agree Virgo, there are so many projects to do it's hard to know where to start.
I'm defaulting to yardwork a lot because I know the drill pretty well + soon summer'll be here & the heat'll become unbearable for the real labor intensive stuff.
That said, over the past couple days I have mowed, edged, weeded & raked front back & sides, trimmed, mulched & watered trees & shrubs & repaired sprinklers.

I was going to reward myself last night by turning on my patio mood lights, some music & relaxing outside, but one of the light strings was out so I ended up tracing & repairing a broken wire, then the door on my CD changer got stuck so I had to disconnect it, partially disassemble to free up the stuck gears inside & reconnect. Sheesh!

Today I worked on my tan some (does that count as work? lol
My legs are so white I'm embarrassed to wear shorts. My arms are super dark though. I've been alternating between front & back of my legs each day this week an hr at a time in the back yard. It's slow going but am making progress. A  few more weeks & I might even look symetrical.

I just got back from picking up supplies at the hardware store to:

Stake my new tree out front properly. I read that in order to develop a strong enough root system to support itself a tree needs to be able to bend a bit in the wind. So off with the training wheels.
Replacing it with 2 stakes outside the root ball & some loose fitting stretch tree ties.

I also picked up some hose repair kits today. All 3 of my garden hoses are leaking at one place or another & is a lot cheaper to repair than replace them. It would be great not to get splashed in the face everytime I turn on the hose! or have puddles forming under every faucet. Due to the drought, water is in short supply here & I feel guilty wasting any.

My aluminum can recycling bin outside is full so I need to bag & take cans to the recycling center tomorrow. ($50, can't complain!

Also  need to call & make an appt with my new dr.
I just got health insurance after 5+ years of going without but still haven't been to see a dr/dentist yet. I'm going to see if my dr. can help me quit smoking. Also need a lot of dental work done. Some of it will be free since I qualified for Medi-Cal with no shared costs. Some will be very expensive & not sure how I'll manage to pay but grateful for the help I will be receiving.
The list never ends...  :P

Like the saying goes: "Living is expensive..But it does include a free yearly trip around the sun"

(((hugs to all)))

Well I thought I had the day off today (with one hour I needed to spend on client work) but....client asked me to go take care of an insurance problem today so I need to get moving if I want to get everything accomplished!  I made a slew of doctors appointments yesterday and have everything lined up for the next month and half to take care of woman's health, internist, dermatologist and my specialist...whew!  So now today I need to:
Clean house (vac, steam mop, bathrooms)
Clean out fridge
Work on getting laundry caught up
Go to insurance agent for client and about an hour of paperwork for client
File and get paperwork caught up for my business
Grocery and get dinner together

Getting going and will come back to check in and post what I need/want to accomplish the next few days.....I'm one of those that is able to do for others incredibly well but gets bogged down with my day to day life (a result of widowhead)...having this post really helps to keep me focused and is helping me get my head back on track to the person I used to be in this aspect.

Not getting most of the bare minimum done this week let alone working on goals.  I did do a good purge in DH's office this week, dentist and gyno appointments, so feel good about that.  This weekend is full with sports and social stuff so I will make goals for next week.

Next  week:
1. Get oldest registered for fall semester
2. Schedule college visits for middle son
3. Clean out youngest sons closet and drawers
4. Make eye exam appointment

You all are very motivating!  Keep up the good work

Trying- keep up the good work too! :)

I got all of my stuff done thursday plus got the oil changed and washed the car, put switch plate covers on where I had replaced outlets/switches and did some plaster patching.
Today I was at a clients until 2:00 then went for my yearly womans check and mammogram.

Tomorrow I need to:
pick up a gift card for a wedding celebration dinner (they got married at the justice of the peace)
go to my post office box
pick up a few things at Trader Joes
take back a sweater
sand down where I patched plaster and apply another coat if needed
clean the interior of my car and get gas
keep plowing away at laundry (almost caught up)

Well I woke up today with one thing on my mind...my closets! I went through the 2 that I keep clothes and shoes in and did my first sweep (I find that if I do it in 2 sweeps it is less "stressful" letting go of stuff...I have a bag full of stuff headed to Salvation Army and a dozen items going to resale.  And I feel way better!  I also sanded, primed and painted the plaster patching I had done.  And I am working on laundry.  Now I'm going to get ready for the party I have to go to, stop and pick up the gift card (nothing like waiting until the LAST minute), stop at the post office box, take the sweater back, pick up a few things at Trader Joes and stop to get gas.  Car interior cleaning is on hold til tomorrow.
Amazing how I can gut and remodel an entire house but then get stuck in this little stuff that seems to grow out of control. What is the saying, "The devil is in the details?"  I feel like I am really getting through all these little tasks that have been nagging at me and getting my home back in order...it is really making me feel good.

Goals... such a funny and elusive thing these days.  So maybe if I write them down somewhere public I'll have more drive to accomplish them.  For today...

Laundry, prepare for an Organic Audit at work on Monday morning and review & empty a few more boxes in the garage.

But of course first goal is get out of bed!

My goals for this week:

Take clothes to resale shop.
Finish mirror project.
Schedule an appointment with insurance agent.
Schedule an appointment to finish LH's headstone design.
Make banner for my daughter's Sweet 16 party.
Start cutting squares for shower curtain project.
Price garage sale items.
Work out at least 3 times.
More vegetables, less sugar.
Usual cleaning/laundry.

I did some laundry, could have done more...
I did get some prep work for my audit done, and it went smooth and quickly this morning...
I got quite a bit more done in the garage than I even expected...

So... overall I'm happy with my goals and accomplishment for Sunday.  Next... taking it easy tonight but will try to set more specific goals going forward.

Virgo - I get it!  Been in a bit of a funk this week and just doing what is necessary as well.

RIFather - Welcome to the "goal group" and yes posting it here does seem to help keep us going!

Trying-Are you doing any better this week?

DonnaK-How is the decluttering plan?

I am in a bit of a funk,  I've got stuff going on healthwise that I need to get through, in the meantime it sure does slow me down.  I will be back to post and cheer folks on....

Not doing so great on the goals this week.  My insomnia has been terrible which leaves me with little energy after working, kids stuff, making dinner.  I have to work Sunday so not expecting a super productive weekend either.  So for Saturday, aside from regular chores and a baseball game I am only setting one goal.

1.  Clean out youngest sons drawers and closet and drop off decent stuff at Goodwill, bad stuff in donation bin.

Ifionlycould, I hope your health issues ease up soon.

I have a list of stuff I wanted to get done this weekend and then BF announced he was bringing some help and tearing out the old landscaping and red rocks from the front of the house....WOW!  So my list is on hold as I had to be the runner to get things and tell him how I wanted it done...now I have to jump in the shower and hit the garden center as he wants me to get the foundation bushes so he can plant them and mulch today!  Will be so nice to have most of the front landscaping done finally!!!!

Schedule an appointment to finish LH's headstone design.
Make banner for my daughter's Sweet 16 party.
Start cutting squares for shower curtain project.
Price garage sale items.
Work out at least 3 times. (once, terrible)

We got all of the dated red rocks torn out from the front of house and in the bed between the driveway and house.  I took hosta and split it and spread it in the bed along the driveway and then mulched.  We planted the new foundation shrubs and accent tree, then mulched the bed...it looks amazing! and has crossed a HUGE project off of my to do list for this summer (this is the summer of the outside of the house).  I was exhausted last night.
Of course this put all of the other stuff I had written down to do the past few days on hold.  So now I have to play catch up with the usual household chores, laundry etc.  But I am so grateful for the project being done!
This week I have a procedure being done on Thursday, it is surgery for a chronic issue I have and needs to be done about every 2 years so that of course is first and foremost on my mind. So goals this week:
Clean house
Catch laundry up
Work at old job 10 hours mon and 6 hours weds.
Client work all day tues.
Get stuff together for surgery
Take donations to Salvation Army
Vacuum and spiff up interior of car.
and since I need to rest:
Get all papers filed
Go through any old/outdated files
Shred papers

So I've gotten quite a few things done over the past two days that I've been putting off for weeks!

Did a few loads of laundry
Put the clean clothes away
Did a load in the dishwasher
Put the clean dishes away
Went through old mail
Shredded stuff I didn't need

I'm just basking in the glow of having gotten enough motivated to get all of that done. I've got stuff that I need to do this week as well, but I'm on a roll!

Got youngest son's  closet and drawers cleaned out, still need to take stuff to Goodwill

Outside furniture is out, all ready to open pool in a week except for a leak we found today in a water line.

More cleaning out of desk and files done.

This week:
              1. Make reservation for Mothers Day, my mom is coming for the weekend!
              2. Take clothes to Goodwill
              3. Call plumber!
              4. Mothers Day cards and gifts for mom and MIL.

OK I have fallen behind on stated goals but I did get some other stuff done so I don't feel too bad.  This week is a big week to get stuff done,  I have a couple friends coming tomorrow and we have alot to accomplish and then for the rest of the week there is even more!

Pull up patio stones to create flower bed area.
Make outside dining area with remaining patio stones.
Put extra patio stones on side of garage to set garbage cans on.
Take down the old lattice wall that was blocking previous owners hot tub.
Possibly use part of lattice wall to create BBQ area.
Pull up any rotting deck boards and replace.
Make new step to deck area.
Put up brackets for window boxes.
Secure gutters that have come loose.
Patch grass area where we removed tree.
Straighten garage.
Finally take stuff to Salvation army!
Finally clean interior of car!
Call sprinkler guy to come get the system up and running (previous owners let a pipe freeze).
Varnish seagrass chairs on front porch.
Keep house picked up and keep up on laundry.

Sort out medical insurance stuff with old provider
Submit out of network expenses for new provider
Finally bring my headlights to be installed on other car
Get replacement title for other car and start process to sell it
Put away clean laundry
Do dishes and put them in dishwasher
Also, deal with the traffic ticket I got 3 weeks ago :(

Last weeks goals accomplished.  I'm about to start some pretty major goals if things go as planned this week.

1. Make final decision by Wednesday about putting offer in on house
2. Find appraiser to get asking price to sell my house
3. If offer on new house goes through, schedule inspection
4. Do not completely go off the deep end making this decision
Title: Re: **Daily/Weekly Goals**

Today I hope to accomplish...

1) staying productive at work, all day.  Which means I will avoid visiting here except for lunch time and just before I head home.
2) Finish cleaning the guest bedroom and move the kids keepsake bins up there.
3) Get through at least one box of "set aside, I'll deal with it later, STUFF".
4) Talk with DS#2 about school and future thoughts.

Trying... good luck on your goals this week, it all sounds very exciting and motivating.

MS-Back on the bandwagon...I'll be cheering you on!
Trying-Wow! Big stuff headed your way...keep us posted!
RIFoF-You are becoming the goal king....keep up the GREAT work!

Thanks guys for keeping this thread going, it really helps me when I read about other peoples accomplishments to keep my momentum...this is the year of fixing up this fixer uppers exterior, let me tell you no small feat!  Previous owners basically did the barest minimum (it was a hoarders house, not as gross as you see on the T.V. show but pretty damn unbelievable).  So hopefully my weather will cooperate today as I have the big patio/deck project going today and I have a goal of getting the old lattice wall down,  all of the patio stones that need to be moved moved,  old boards on deck replaced, new railing made and new step made.

ARGH!  Best laid plans! One of the helpers today hit a pothole, blew a tire and bent the rim....so he couldn't make it....he was going to be the patio stone mover  :(
My other friend couldn't get here til noon and when he first got here we spent time securing and repitching gutters.  We then were able to take down the lattice wall and pull up about 1/2 the deck boards that need replacing before it started to pour rain! >:(
Sigh....but I did at least take the stuff to Salvation Army that I have been meaning to drop off.
Oh and need I mention the rotting fascia boards we discovered when playing with the gutters?  ARGH!!!!

Trying-good luck with everything this week!

IIOC-sorry things didn't go as planned today.

I have been so unmotivated lately. I did mark a few things off of my list, including finishing my daughter and nephew's Sweet 16 banner.

Goals
Finish mirror project.
Schedule an appointment with insurance agent.
Schedule an appointment to finish LH's headstone design.
Take tax form to SS office.
Start cutting squares for shower curtain project.
Price garage sale items.
Work out at least 3 times.
More vegetables, less sugar.
Usual cleaning/laundry.
Get groceries.

I don't think I'm going to be able to participate in the city garage sale this weekend because of my daughter's Sweet 16 party, but I'm going to continue to price things so we can have our own sale later on.

Well I am only 1/2 way through the deck/patio project and it is friday (end of week and I have to go spend all day at a clients).  Helper 1 was a no show due to car troubles and I had forgotten how F...... SLOW  ('scuse me) Helper 2 is!  I am truly frustrated!  I do however have grass growing in the area I patched, the garage is all straightened up, the stuff has gone to Salvation Army, the lattice fence is down, the deck has all new deck boards replacing the bad ones and I managed to fit in client work and 2 doctors appts.  I guess way better than I was doing when I went into a funk this winter!  Oh and I did put a call into sprinkler guy who could come on weds. (day I had to be across town at clients)  I am trying to get a hold of him to reschedule it but he is not getting back to me.  Just feeling very frustrated right now due to other people!  So I guess this is more a post about frusration than goals but I'm hopng some cheerleaders will come out and cheer me to the finish..... ;D

Been working on project "stop my house looking like an abandoned farmhouse".  Still lots to do but finally seeing some progress.  Been pulling weeds out of the flower beds and found some tulips.  With the weeds gone the flowers actually opened up.  My kids actually came out and helped without being asked.

friend insisted we go kayaking for the first time in 3 years (don and I were renovating the house those years)
so loaded up our kayaks on the truck myself :)
pretty proud of that ,plus proud of the fact our kayaks touched water which don would have loved
then planted flowers in window boxes and whiskey barrels so the house looks like it has a little bit of life back in her

Well, if you want to break a cycle of procrastination I suggest planning a move!  Holy cow, I have been in overdrive after spending most of the past 20 months barely getting the minimum done.

So far this week:
1. Scheduled inspection for new house next week
2. Contacted attorney for closing
3. Had house power washed and all windows cleaned
4. Decluttered several closets with multiple goodwill trips
5. Boxed up remaining clothes from DH that I want to save for the boys
6. Pool house cleaned out and organized
7. Appointment for oldest's wisdom teeth
8. Had my house appraised, waiting for report
9. Invitations sent for youngest son's "end of elementary school pool party"
10. Made a million lists!

And I have worked and kept up on laundry. Grocery shopping and cooking not so much.

Today I need to contact an organization to come get some small furniture pieces to donate, work half day, middle son's prom and youngest has a chorus concert.  Weekend list to come later!

Who am I?  Lol

Here's what I need to get accomplished this coming weekend:
Dust, Vac, Wash floors, Clean bathrooms.
Make the railing for the one part of the deck I reconfigured.
Get flowers for all of the pots.
Attatch flower boxes to inside of arbor (I want that look where the flowers are cascading over the top of the arbor).
Install blinds in the one bedroom (have had drapes in there but I like to have both).
Project for client (should take about 6 hours total).

I think that's enough for now...I want a little time to relax!

Who else has a list they want to commit too?

Goals for this week:

Buy paint for mirror project.
Schedule an appointment with insurance agent.
Schedule an appointment to finish LH's headstone design.
Take tax form to SS office.
Start cutting squares for shower curtain project.
Clean out garage.
Price garage sale items.
Work out at least 3 times.
More vegetables, less sugar.
Usual cleaning/laundry.

The mirror project might be put on hold. I have the frames and mirrors. I just need to buy paint. I'm just wondering if I want to replace my countertops. If so, I would wait to hang the mirrors. Decisions, decisions.

My main goal for this week is clearing out my garage. I had someone come out Friday to give me an estimate on hanging drywall and finishing the walls for me. I was suppose to get that final estimate today, but haven't. They are scheduled 2 weeks out if I decide to go with them, so I want to get the garage cleared out this week.

We'll see how much I get done. My plan for tomorrow is to get to the gym early and then come home and start clearing the garage.

Productive day!

cleaned 2 bathrooms
washed 4 loads of laundry
put dishes away
vacuumed, swept, mopped - 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, and the hallway
made chili
went to the gym
started cleaning my garage (what a mess!!!)
took a truck load to Good Will
took a truck load of garbage and burn trash to my in-laws

13 hours non-stop (except for driving and meals, lol). I'm whooped!
Title: Re: **Daily/Weekly Goals**
Post by: Virgo on June 02, 2015, 08:06:08 PM
Not as productive today, but I can mark a couple of things off my list. I bought the paint for my mirror project, and I went and chose new frames for myself. I'm going to have new lenses put in my current frames too. It will be nice to have two pair to choose from. I just wish they would have had more of a selection of colors to choose from. I wanted a navy blue or dark green. I ended up with black, and my current pair is tortoise shell. Practical, but boring!

I planned on working more in the garage, but I was unmotivated. I got the quote for the garage and it seemed high to me, so I started calling around today for more quotes. I'm hoping maybe I can get some friends to help me out. At least help me hang the insulation and sheetrock. Then I can hire someone for the mudding and texturing. We'll see I guess.

Welcome to Daily Goals!

cleaned kitchen, dining room, and living room
started laundry/put some away
went to the gym
balanced my check book (that's always fun :) )

Made some calls for quotes for the garage. A friend came over to add an extension to the rain shower head, but it didn't work out. I need to order a different part.

My daughters and I are going out for dinner before church tonight. I'm going to see if my dad wants to go along.

I've really been missing my hubby and mom the past few days. Bursting into tears, which hasn't happened in awhile. I'm trying to keep myself busy and fight the urge to crawl into my bed. I actually started making my bed every morning so I wouldn't get back in it. It works! Tomorrow will be 16 months.

Hi Virgo, Trying and Needytoo-Wow!  You have all been busy getting it done!
Welcome here tmppgh-we remember what it was like to just have a goal of getting up and showering!  Just take it one day at a time and go easy on yourself.  I remember having a conversation with my therapist.  I was frustrated because I seemed unable to get anything accomplished and I had alot to get done...I had to get a house on the market to sell and all I wanted to do was sit on the couch and cry.  He told me to paint the window trim and cry...I would have still gotten the cry out and something would have gotten done too.  He promised me I would feel just a little better afterwards and he was right.

Well, I keep getting sidetracked from my posted goals, it seems like something is always popping up (including terrible rain storms!) to move me in a different direction but I am still getting stuff done.   I finally have all of the patio stones that I was removing moved to the side of the house for the trash cans to sit on...WOW! anyone here ever move those 2x2 patio stones? Thank God I had a dolly.   The patio is now down to a more reasonable size (it was 26x16 with no bedding around it..I took out enough to make a flower bed area on one side and a border on the other now it won't be just one massive expanse of stones).  I planted some flowers but not all.  Got sidetracked to fix a plumbing issue. Rain brought me inside so I went down to basement and continued to sort and purge.  So again the patio project continues!
This weekend:
Get the bedding area cleared out of remaining base sand.
Amend the soil.
Plant perennials in the bed.
Mulch the bed.
Spray flower pots (I have the plastic pots that I spray paint a high gloss black --makes them look like ceramic without the weight and can't tell they are not ceramic!)
Plant annuals in the pots.
Vacuum and dust house.

Well my week didn't go as plan.  Had to euthanize our old cat and kids were very against it.  Told them he passed at home.  Driving back my low tire pressure went on.  Thought I better get that taken car of so I drove to Honda.  I was making a left turn into honda on a busy road, waited for the light to turn yellow, looked clear and turned and then got hit by a van. Grrr. Got the car and tire fixed.  Was not a fun day.  Now our dog has diarrhea and I am worried sick (she gets diarrhea often eats anything).

Last week I was at work everyday and I have been laid off.  This week I for another meeting that stretched out for the whole day.  I calmly pointed out I am not getting paid so supposely they are going to try to get some pay for me.  Next week they scheduled me for another three meetings, hello people hire me back.

Didn't get my husband's car towed away.  Think I might have found someone that can use our old boat.  Put down landscaping cloth in  one flower bed and planted it.  Planted 8 hanging baskets, 6 more to go.  Next flower bed is a real disaster I think I should rent out a rototiller.

I forgot about going to the bank, and ended up living the item I wanted to return at home. Other than that everything else got done. My daughter will have to study the guide they gave her and return to take a test. Nice having individual time with her today. That doesn't happen very often.

I'm in full on panic and list making mode with the up coming move and putting my house up for sale!

Signed paperwork today to put house on the market as of tomorrow.

New goals:
-Get house cleaned up for realtor pictures on Wednesday
- end of school pool party for youngest Thursday (food, drinks, games oh my!)
- buy christening cards, graduation cards, Father's Day card for FIL, gift for FIL and Bday present for nephew all by Sunday

I'm marking more items off of my list.

My daughters and I worked on cleaning out the garage more again today. We worked for about 6 hours. Tomorrow I have someone coming to give me an estimate on hanging insulation and drywall. Hopefully this estimate is more reasonable then that last estimate I got.

I have 5 gallons of change ready to take to the bank.

My Jeep is loaded for a run to the dump. I already made another trip to the Good Will.

I also made it to the gym today!

It took a long time but I finally can say the yard is back to its glory with exception of a few dead branches on some trees.  All flower beds weeded, landscape cloth put down, mulch covered and flowers planted.  It was very drooling hard work but I did it all by myself.

Now onto my patio.  Weeds are now all dead and need to be removed.  Going to wash the patio stones down, put this polymer stuff in the cracks and paint the fence.

Landscaping maintenance is on my list too! I'm just waiting for a nice day. We've had a lot of rain.

I detailed the interior of my Jeep yesterday. It needed it desperately. It needs a good wash and wax, but again I'm waiting for some nice weather.

I went through the basement and gathered more items to take to the dump. Years worth of paint cans and remnants from house projects. Why do we save stuff we think we might need later? It feels good clearing things out.

We have family visting from out of town this week, so I'm not sure what I'll get accomplished. I did pick up some more paint Thursday for two of my painting projects. We'll see I guess.

✔️Have had 3 house showings plus realtor pictures so I feel like all I am doing is cleaning up!

✔️11 year old's pool party was a great success, having oldest lifeguard was a big stress reducer

✔️Cards and gifts bought for tonight and tomorrow.

✔️Dog scheduled for groomer Tuesday on realtor open house day

New goals:
Empty out desk and 2 filing cabinets by Wednesday when my SIL will move DHs office furniture to her new house.

Clean out storage cubbies in my bedroom

Clean out built in cabinets in FR purge or pack

Remember to breath, stress is over taking me!

Showing the house is the worst part of selling. I thought it was worse than packing. Yes, just breathe. You're getting a lot accomplished in a short amount of time. You can only do so much.

Never ever let mother nature take over a patio.  Wow it is hard to get it back but I think I am finally winning.  Weeds are gone, new polymer sand put between the pavers (huge nasty job did it on my hands and knees), now cleaning the pavers and will seal them on Sunday and then paint the fence then onto next project.

I've been marking quite a bit off of my list:

finished my daughters vanity
took change to the bank $260, nice
scheduled an appointment with my insurance company to take Phil's name off of everything
scheduled an appointment to finalize Phil's gravestone
scheduled an appointment for my daughter's sports physical
scheduled an ortho appointment for myself to get fitted for a retainer
took items to resale shop $65
took items to Good Will
went to the recycle center

Still on my list for this week:
finish landscaping around my mailbox
finish trimming and weeding the landscaping
get carpets cleaned in basement (flooding issue)
put things back and organize in basement

Hopefully I can get someone to come out this week to clean the carpets. I'm going through my insurance company, so it's a little more involved then me just calling and scheduling an appointment.

Washed my kitchen floor last night. It's been on "the list" for ages. It could use another go-over, as the dirt was fairly well embedded. haha. But it's a start!

I've also been experimenting with a ton of new recipes, trying to use all the produce I get in my weekly farmshare basket! It's been a culinary adventure! I almost forgot how much I enjoy cooking :)

Changed all the crusher dust to this polymer sand between the patio stones in hopes to keep the weeds down and the stupid things still were growing. I put down a sealer down on the patio and my God that better keep the weeds away.

Now I am staining the fence and have to say that is so much rewarding than the patio experience. Nice to see a change right away.

Why is it so hot?

Well, the estate lady ended up screwing me over so now I don't know what to do with the if stuff I have to sell, I'm running out of time!

This week I accomplished a lot but have so much still to go
- registered for for 2 seperate programs, one part time online certification to start in 3 weeks and one full time on site to start in September

-picked up my glasses, got haircut, got dogs rabies shot

-packed up you guests son's room, basement and pool 75% done

This weekend:
-get older 2 sons to finish packing their rooms
-finish filling dumpster
-finish packing pool house and basement
-clean out pantry and freezer
-take smaller items to donate that Estate lady is now not helping with
-come up with new plan for furniture and larger items that estate lady was supposed to take care of

Oldest son has colonoscopy and endoscopy Monday morning, then I drive the other 2 to NH Monday night and I return for closing on the new house Thursday and prepare for movers next Sunday.

I am totally overwhelmed!

Too hot to work outside. Today started (again) on the decluttering.  I even read a book called the Japanese are of declutting.  She suggests to declutter by category and if you don't love an item it goes.  I am use to declutting a room not going by a category but hey I will try it.  Today I am working on clothes.  Even that is giving me memories. Have to take little cry moments and wow do we have clothes.  I am using her suggests on how to fold the clothing and have to say I am impressed.

Thanks Trying you just reminded me I need to make an appointment for a hair cut.

Hi All!
Been away from this post for a bit....impressed to see what you have all accomplished!  I have FINALLY gotten to the 80% done point on the back landscape/patio/deck project....whew....and ended up doing most of it myself as the people I had lined up (and was paying!)  to help flaked out early on...but goal has been to enjoy summer too in between work and working on the house.  I have a busy couple days and need to stay focused and then I am going away for the weekend.  So over the next 2 days:
Tues: Client work 6 hours.
Get stuff to "finish" wedding shower gift.
Take back stuff to 2 stores, pick up patio lights.
         Pack.
Plant more bushes on back fence line.
         Water everything.
Weds: Work old job (lv. early)
          Client work 1 hour.
          Put everything in car.
Take gift to grooms house (going to be out of town for shower).
         Dust, vac, wash floors.
Get excited to head for 4 days of doing nothing and being engaged in nothing!  Going on a trip alone and going a where the day takes me type of thing...much needed!  Sick of obligations, expectations, ringing phones, emails, texts....now if I can just really allow myself to disengage and let go of the feeling "But you have SO much to do at home."

Enjoy your vacation IIOIC!

Sorting through the piles in my room, but my daughters bedrooms and closets are organized (mostly.) They both like more 'clutter' in their rooms than I do. Lol!

When I'm done with the piles I'm going to start in the basement. The carpet in my craftroom is dry.

Wow it is hot outside so I am continuing on "project decluttering.  I really like the ideal of being a minimalist.  My husband was a collector of stuff.  I have got rid of so much stuff but so much more needs to go. My oldest son seems to have the same feeling for this, my youngest son not convinced yet or maybe it is because he is lazy and just doesn't want to be involved.

Went through my clothes and got rid of a lot of stuff and organized it the Marie Kondo way.  I feel a little stupid that I didn't know of this before. Today went through the closet in my oldest son's old room.  I found clothes in there I swear when he was 10 years old and now he is 20 years old.  My oldest son called at noon and I told him what I was doing and he said he wanted to do it by himself.  I am keeping my fingers crossed he is going to do that.  Then I moved on to the book cases.   Was doing well till I find an old binder which my husband wrote on.  Message was some crude remark he use to say all the time but instead of laughing at it, had to have a little cry.  Dammit hate that.  Had my cry and continued on. Still a very long way to becoming a minimalist.

Accomplished a couple of goals today. I dropped off the baby gift and sold items at the resale shop. I also bought some more baskets and bins for the basement. I started putting things back in the basement yesterday.

I have something else to add to my list for this week. A trip to the animal clinic. We made an interesting discovery last night. Our kitten Penelope seems to have developed berries and a little twig. I'm not a vet, so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty positive we'll be changing Penelope's name to Pennington. That way we can still call him/her Penny or Pen. Our other two cats will eventually need spayed, but I'm more concerned about Penny right now. :) Always something!

Goals for next week:
1.  Yearly physical for both boys.
2.  Eye appointment both boys

4.  Annual GYN appointment for me.

Every day I will be in a doctor's office.  Good news is that I'll start the school year all caught up with medical appointments.  Bad news I have large co-pays and savings will take a hit.  Better insurance with new job that kicks in Sept. 1.

All i am going to post for this week (besides work for clients today, thurs and fri and at "old job" on weds.) is to get the rest of the bushes and perennials in the ground, clean the gutters and clean up the annual pots....that's it! but trust me it's enough!

Right now I'm involved in a Wellness Challenge at work called "1000 Strong." It basically challenges participants to do 1000 reps of any form of strength training or cardio exercise over the course of one month. So far I've been doing jumping jacks (yes, they are on the list), push ups, crunches, squats. I plan to add in weight bearing exercises too.

I'm here to admit I got nothing done on my list...ended up working for the client on thurs and friday WAY later than expected...all good...but once again my stuff goes on hold.  Then went away with sister for the weekend who treated me to a hotel stay and tickets to Jay Leno , so nothing but fun was accomplished!  I may just come back here and post my goals for the MONTH.

I just completed a HUGE goal -- I was asked to participate in an event at Quinnipiac University, where I work. The event is called "Dancing with the QU Stars." The Quinnipiac Ballroom Dance Society has a number of talented students, who each get paired with a faculty or staff partner and learn one dance for the night. My partner and I had to learn a fancy foxtrot. It was nerve-wracking and I wasn't sure I could pull it off, but it was great and I totally enjoyed the experience. There is a clip up on Facebook. I don't know if this link will work - but give it a try:

Today I need to hopefully straighten out my taxes. I went to file last week and there were issues with the 1099Rs for me and my 3 daughters. Getting through to someone has been a challenge.

Yesterday I ordered new lenses for my middle daughter. I have an appointment Friday for annual blood work.

I'm also going to order a granite counter top for one of our bathrooms and set up an installation appointment.  It's about time I finish that bathroom! ! I have a few other projects to complete in there too.

Since having my daughter almost two years ago, I've needed to write a will.  This morning, I met with a lawyer, got it all set up for drafting, and created a trust for my life insurance for my daughter.  I still need to decide who her legal guardian will be in the case of both me and her father dying (seems an impossible decision - no one seems perfect or acceptable), but otherwise it's taken care of!  Felt like a monumental and overwhelming and expensive task.  Glad I finally got my $h!t together to do this for her.

1.  Clean out closets.
2.  Bag and donate all outgrown winter clothes.
3.  Take books to library to donate.

Next 2 weeks are spring cleaning and I'm doing 1 room each evening after school.

I miss this thread.  Writing down goals and revisiting them weekly helps me stay focused.  Thus, bumping up this thread.  This week's goals:

1.  Get now teenage boys to sort all the outgrown clothes from last summer and make list of what is needed.
2.  Snail mail all birthday, graduation, and get well cards.
3.  See a sunrise and sunset at the beach this summer.  Not exactly a weekly goal but a much needed mental health goal.

Ill join as I'm trying to refocus.

1) Continue to work on a plan for my son's development as he is heading to school full time this Sept. I have bought some "fine motor skills" supplies and I am engaging the nanny to work with him during the days I am at work.  This plan is kicking off this week.

2) Keep to new diet...I really slipped in the past few months and I very focused on losing 10 more pounds which will be done via diet and exercise.

3) Plan a romantic evening for NG's birthday (in the week ahead) which is coming up in 2.5 weeks - he has been so sweet to me and I would like to do something for him in return.

2. Throw away or donate the unused and not needed items.
3. Sustain the order of things while trying reach goal.
