  1. Its not anywhere near enough time if she isnt the one pushing to go back.
  2. 'You Learn to Live Without' from the musical If/Then (sung by Idina Menzel)
  3. Ditch Lynard Skynard and go with Claptons- Tears in Heaven; a real 3-tissue box song
  4. Since your music options (with or without karaoke) are under control I'll step in to handle the food- if you've never made a shiva call (a shiva is the jewish version of a wake) the most noticeable difference is the food. Its traditional to bring something sweet and round (continuation of life, circle of life, that sort of thing) if you hadnt already sent a food platter. So were talking an average of one cake coming in with every two or three people. By tradition the food cant leave the house unless its going to another house in mourning (except for charitable donation ) so after a week the house looks like the sorcerers apprentice went beserk at a bakery. So- any favorite you'd limlike e to see featured? (Stick to soft favorites- me and the rest of the guests would like to be very old with failing teeth when this shindig goes down)
  5. Also listening.. (actually, I came back just for the broadcast)
  6. I have a house guest so I'm out (unless she cancels, which she does frequently) jill
  7. We will meet you at the pizza place at 12:45; IL text when we leave Penn station
  8. I think just you, Michael and me (plus one more from fb). No worries- what we lack in quantity we'll make up in quality. Just keep your fingers crossed that the weather cooperates
  9. I felt your pain for many years; even though DH was alive he was almost always working that time of year. When my daughter was young we used to go with her friend and the friend's parents (with their kids) and trick or treating was followed by an after party (fortunately, including wine ) After a few years of this one of the men decided I must have a (female) partner and not a 'real' husband or he would have surfaced by then and pulled me aside to tell me it was really ok if I wanted to bring her.
  10. Too bad - we'll definitely have to convince Jen to come to the next wine bago
  11. That is down in the Village that neighborhood isn't as much fun as it used to be but we can still walk around- or walk to the High Line if everybody is up to it
  12. For a slightly different perspective, my daughter worked in a day care and the teachers & teacher aides (ranging in age from 18-40+) regularly rated the Dad's who dropped off their kids (a/k/a 'DILF'). It was a game; tacky, but still just a game with no malice behind it and no regard to age differences up or down. PS: It is WAY more tacky and inappropriate for a boss to say it to a teenage employee but unless he's a total creeper to him it was meant to be a silly compliment.
  13. We can regroup when its closer and we have a better idea of the weather. Two more suggestions near Highline: Green Table (in Chelsea market) and Artichoke Pizza
  14. Thats sounds good, Donna, and weirdly enough I was actually thinking of a beer garden in jersey city. Only issue I see is that we'd probably want to move the time to 11:45 since brunch is only 12-3 and we may have seating issues
  15. Despite the fact that I've lived in this area my entire life I've come up dry with suggestions other than Ellen's Stardust Diner (a tourist trap but fun) or the boat to the Statue of Liberty (if we can score tickets same day, since it's too weather dependent and our headcount shifts with the winds), or top of Empire State Building (same issue with tickets) Come on, K- you should be able to do better than that
