Once a week, after Mass every Sunday until we moved a thousand miles south in 2009. I would nod at a friend who lost his wife suddenly a few months before Laurie as he drove by. Sundays seemed to be the day for widowers??? .

 

Why did the time go by so fast? It seems like yesterday I was walking down the aisle. I look at our wedding pictures and it's hard to imagine that's it's over. My parents are even gone now.

Thymoma, an extremely rare cancer. Almost all of Laurie's doctors had only seen it in text books. Lucky her. Cancer sucks!

Today would (should) have been our 35th wedding anniversary. 

Not to this degree, but I have a friend who lost both her parents in the last few years and is taking it very hard too. It is difficult to understand why a grown woman would be like that??? Both my parents are gone too. People get old and die.  ???

My heart is big enough to love another and still love my late wife. Unfortunately, there are many not widowed that don't understand this.

I lost some but gained some. A guy who I barely knew before Laurie died, put in a new heating unit at our house in NJ for free. I have other similar stories too. Old friends disappeared and new friends took their place. Such is life. 

Seriously though...I like hot sex as much as anyone...it's important but certainly that alone wouldn't keep me.

I'm not sure if anything short of locking a person up in a padded cell can "prevent" suicide? However, medication can help with the dark stranger.

My son 27 year old has never been officially diagnosed but I am sure he has Aspergers. He flunked out of college twice and the police academy once because of it. He works now in the garden center of a huge home improvement place and is doing great. I will get him official diagnosed even though he is adult just because maybe there is some kind of help out there for him. It is tough. My son goes to work and then spends all his free time playing video games. The concept of friendship or maintaining friendships is foreign to him. I am fearful of his future. Hopefully, my girls will let him live in their basement.  :-\

I have not attended any meetups yet but I will soon. Any age welcomed. They are very active.
