CJF
My son is on homecoming court. During halftime they announce the kids and announce their parents names. I feel like we should include his dad and say son of C and the late R. He doesn't feel comfortable doing that. Anyone ever had a similar situation? Advice? I am fine with just my name but not sure it's the right thing to do.
Lisa
I think you need to respect his wishes. Hugs.
Trying
I think in these situations the child gets to choose. It's ok to present him with options and let him know you will support whatever he decides. That being said it really sucks. I have on several occasions felt this need to yell out that my kids Dad would be here if he could, he loved them and was as proud as any Dad could be. Hugs to you and your son, the happy moments they aren't here for can be the hardest.
serpico
While I agree this is his call there is no reason you shouldn't - if you so desire - point out to your son that maybe someday he'll wish he had included his Dad's name in the announcement. It's not going to hurt him to at least consider it.
CJF
Thanks all for the advice. He thought about it over night and decided to include both of us.
