  1. I was always Pepsi for me, and I drank a lot! But since I gave up soda last March its been lime seltzer for me. Its amazing how that one little change and affect your weight. Brownies or Ice cream?
  2. I am in thermals and a sweatshirt, tucked into my sleeping bag in a cabin with 3 guys and 17 kids...boy scout camping weekend. Made corned beef and cabbage tonight for 30. Tired and reading some of the posts before I sleep. Everyone else is in for the night as well so it's pretty quiet. Eta...hair is also stringy as I have not showered since friday....yeah camping, same with the 17 teenage boys!
  3. I am right there with you. My oldest is a senior and we are waiting for one more college decision, of course it is his first choice. Mine as well since it is only an hour away. He is also having a particularly hard time right now with anger and it is all coming to a head. He has finally agreed to see a therapist again. I am hoping we can get him back on solid ground before college as well. And FAFSA...amen to FU!
  4. ...sometimes I don't know where I belong either. In 2005 my wife was diagnosed with non-specific interstitial lung disease which later became airway centric interstitial fibrosis. She was treated on and off with prednisone for years until it began to no longer be effective. In June of 2012 she was put on 24hr oxygen. In November we were in Boston for what was supposed to be a routine lung function test with her specialist. We ended up staying in the hospital for a week being worked up for a lung transplant. We went back home with a few more tests to be done, everything so far was looking good. The week before Thanksgiving she had to have a mammogram as part of the transplant workup. They found three small spots on her right breast, three days later we were told they were cancer. Early stage and treatable through surgery only. We decided to wait till after Christmas for surgery, it was high risk due to her lung issues. We were supposed to leave for Boston on Sunday for early Monday morning Dr. appointments to plan for the mastectomy. She died in her sleep Saturday night. I say I don't know where I belong because while I'm sure it wasn't the cancer that killer her directly it was the cancer that kept her off the lung transplant list that she surely would have been near the top of the list for based on her age and condition.
  5. Someone started a thread like this on the old-new board, I liked the idea so... Some of us have children and some have fur babies and some of have both...share your fur baby stories and pictures... This is Cali, a Siberian. She is about 11 years old and has lived with us since she was 5. My oldest son is allergic and this breed is hypoallergenic. Because of the allergy we never thought we would have a cat and I think DW was relieved, she did not have pets growing up. A mutual friend needed to find a new home for Cali, we met her and that was it, even DW fell in love. Fal and Cali, she kept her company... Even after I brought home her ashes...I woke the next morning to find Cali curled up next to her. She NEVER went on the dresser before... Last one, Cali tucked in for a nap... Who's next?
  6. finally got rid of the extra four toothbrushes in the bathroom, its not much but baby steps grow...right?
  7. Four seasons, thank you, I'm a true New Englander. But I will admit that this winter did me in, I'm ready for spring. I can actually see the granite benches in my back yard this morning... its been a while since I last saw them! Fire pit outside Or Fireplace inside?
  8. I think if check at the top left of the page where it says hello to you there is a link that says show unread posts since last visit. Hope that helps.
  9. Ok, I'm going to try this, AGAIN. Last night I spent a few, at times tough, hours sorting photos that are just dumped in boxes. Starting by sorting into years, throwing away the envelopes and negatives. I already reduced the volume by one box.
  10. Thank you, I will try this. Yes this does work! Thank you again.
  11. I am contemplating whether or not I can do this. A chance to meet some more distant wids would be very nice. Of course I will be coming off a boy scout camping trip that weekend and need to figure out the 4 kids thing...so I am firmly in the maybe camp. So what time was this planned for?
  12. First I have to express my gratitude and amazement at what some truly wonderful members here have accomplished in setting this new home up. THANK YOU! I agree I am missing seeing how far out other are and when they choose to share where they are located. Having that information right on the sidebar was useful to me. I know it is in the profile if they entered the information but it not quite the same. The one other thing I would love is if when you go into a thread it could remember what post you left off reading at instead of bringing you to the beginning each time. Again wishful thinking but I'm still grateful for what we do have.
  13. Donna and MrDrew...YEAH! Congratulations and enjoy.
  14. We were at a close friends wedding one year after we were married.
  15. I am not very technical so I can't honestly say why my pics are large, I was actually trying to figure our how to make them a bit smaller. As for how to post a picture, here's how I am able, if anyone has any easier or better suggestions by all means please share. I upload the photo to photobucket.com, mostly because that is what someone told me two years ago and it works still. Once in photobucket click on the image, when it is loaded on your screen there should be links on the right hand side of the page, use the fourth link down called "IMG". mouse over "IMG" and click this will automatically copy the link you need. In the "quick reply" on widda.com type any message for your post and either right click and paste or Control-V to paste the link from photobucket. Preview or submit your post and that should be it. Another method is to click the reply button at the top of the post page. under where you type your post there is and attachments llink. Click this and you can upload your picture right there. The only problem is that your image file size is limited and you may have to be able to adjust your photo file. Good Luck.
  16. I was just about to answer Truck... you beat me to it... So Gourmet, Teenie Beanies or Jelly Belly but only Lemon Flavor, I recently found a new brand that is all-natural and the lemon pucker is incredible but I can't remember the name... Sours or Sweets?
  17. Hachi, A very interesting and thought provoking read. I am especially struggling and or working through... "You learn that, for the most part, you get in life what you TRULY BELIEVE you deserve, and that much of life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You learn that anything worth achieving is worth working for and that wishing for something to happen is different than working towards making it happen."
  18. I agree with feeling unsettled. Here is a paraphase of a post I made on the Old-New Board from Saturday, I have been oddly tearful today as well... spent time last night and this morning contemplating this (transition from YWBB to Proboard) change. What hit me the most was that I have made some truly wonderful friends on YWBB and at first the prospect of losing that connection had me rather stunned... I am seeing an odd parallel to my loss and grief in that this is forcing me to endure another loss I would not have chosen and makes me decided how or whether to move forward to something else. Seems like rambling and in another board life, I would probably just delete this but as I am trying to evolve I know sometimes you just have to put it out there and see what happens.
  19. These are our wedding day, two ceremonies to reflect both of our traditions...I finally got better scans of these photos.
  20. Very grateful to the handful of people who have found a way to keep us together, again. Thank you!
