  1. I had that awkward conversation today. It was unplanned, short, and not what I expected at all. I wasn't planning on telling them until I was in a serious relationship, but because of certain circumstances it was unavoidable. It was awkward, but not horrible. They were both smiling and very supportive. Feel free to share your 'coming out 'to in laws stories.
  2. Thank you for sharing your experiences! Dating with children can be challenging. I really like the guy that I'm dating, we talk about attending future events together, but we just started dating in January. I think I will hold off on introductions a little while longer. If my 16yo keeps asking I will consider introducing her to him in passing. Her sisters aren't ready yet.
  3. How soon did you introduce your children to your significant other? I realize that answers will vary and there's not a magical amount of time. I'm just wondering what your thoughts and experiences were on this topic. My oldest daughter (16) would like to meet the guy I've been dating, but I think it's to soon. I mentioned it to him and he said maybe we should have dinner together to curb her curiosity. Her sisters weren't to sure about meeting him.
  4. I took my three daughters shopping. We had a great time until my Jeep overheated and we got stranded in the Target parking lot. We got a ride home an hour later. Today I had my Jeep towed to the Chrysler dealership. Hopefully it's minor and won't take to long or cost a lot to repair.
  5. My mom died three months before my husband died, so I can relate to losing your best friends and support system. I'm sorry you're surrounded by unsympathetic people. If I remember correctly we don't live very far from each other. Maybe we should get together sometime for lunch.
  6. Retail therapy today! Phil's second birthday without us. 1. Splurged at Victoria Secret. 2. Splurged at Sephora. 3. Nice conversations with friends and family today.
  7. Sex feels good, but it makes me miss my husband even more. This sucks.
  8. I'm sorry, that is a lot. I hope that they are able to keep your sister comfortable. Today, 1/28, would have been my husband 's 41st birthday. Our second apart. He died one week after his birthday, so that day is looming.
  9. I'm so sorry. Cancer affects so many families. Watching our kids hurting and grieving is painful. We lost my mom just 3 months before my husband. It's a lot, especially for kids.
  10. Have you looked on Pinterest? Of the Sweet 16's I've attended the most popular things for the teens were karaoke, photo booths, and sweets tables /bars. My oldest turned 16 last year. At first she didn't want a party. She had no desire to be the center of attention. My nephew is 8 days older and felt the same way. They decided on a joint party. His mom and I rented out a room at a restaurant. We hired a DJ who also had a karaoke machine. We had a sweets table and a appetizers table set up. Decorations were black, white, and purple. Purple happens to be their favorite color, so that worked out. I made a Sweet 16 banner using those colors. I also bought purple Masons jars to use on the tables. The candy was also purple, black, and white. It wasn't a large party, but it was what they both wanted.
  11. That would have been on Faux news --- I know. I was teasing too.
  12. 200 abs, back, biceps, and cardio today. I did Derek Weida's back workout. Definitely check him out on Facebook. He's funny and very motivating. Just be warned that his swearing might be offensive to some.
  13. Your feelings are valid. If a guy walks away when you share, let him. You deserve better. I can relate to disliking dating again. My husband wasn't perfect, but he was perfect for me. I never thought I would be dating again.
  14. You've got this manutesgirl! 1/8 rest day 1/9 legs, shoulders, and cardio I'm not going to be able to walk tomorrow. Funny, I leg pressed 545 pounds, but the variations of body weight lunges cramped my legs. Love/hate lunges!
  15. I heard that you got married. Glad you two had a great time!
  16. 1/7 200 abs, chest, triceps, and cardio
  17. Yesterday I went back to bed after my daughters got on the bus. I woke up at 2pm. My youngest daughter gets home from school at 2:30.
  18. I know what you mean. I feel that heartbreak again too. Can you think of anything you could do to redirect your thoughts? My daughters and I celebrate his birthday. Last year I donated whole blood, and I probably will again this year. Blood donations extended his life and I promised him that I would donate because he would never be able to because of his cancer. We also made his favorite dinner and dessert. February 4th, his death date, we don't really acknowledge.
  19. I think evaluating yourself and sharing your feelings here shows a lot of courage and strength. My husband has been gone for almost two years and I have had a lot of the same feeling as you. Fear, pain, guilt, and regret. They come in waves, but less often than before. I'm sorry you haven't had a lot of support from family and friends. I hope you find support here.
  20. (((Hugs ))) My husband's birthday is the 28th, and his death date is the week after. I'm already planning a few things around those dates to redirect my thoughts.
  21. 1/6 cardio, the arc trainer is no joke! We have a love /hate relationship.
  22. 1/5 200 abs, back, biceps, and cardio
  23. You should have said "I would have watched an entertaining movie in the comfort of my warm, cozy house." I don't see a second date in his future.
