Trying
I need to get back to goal setting, things just aren't getting done! Today and the weekends goals: Phone calls: change dentist appointment, get sons prescriptions refilled Help youngest clean out drawers and closet Clean out laundry room/mud room , put away winter stuff Pay bills and finish filing
IfIonlycould
Trying-that's why I'm back here-really seems to help when I commit to them! and good on you lcoxwell! I got everything done yesterday except getting the fertilizer but I'm headed off to work a 10 hour at the "Old Job" so with the commute making it almost 12 hours I may not get the fertilizer today either. So goal today: Get through the workday. Get fertilizer if hardware store still open.
IfIonlycould
Up and moving...I have a birthday brunch to attend today. I am hitting a farmers/flea market on the way to the brunch (searching for the perfect bedroom chandelier/fixture). After I would like to try to take a few items back to various stores I have been putting off. Look for and hopefully find a new pair of sneakers. Get through a couple loads of laundry (I had a bin of towels in storage and they now have that plastic smell, plus I have old sheets and dropclothes that need to be washed and stored away for next project). Figure out dinner for the next couple of days. Find one small project and do it, which leads me to new strategy: I began a gut and remodel of this house last year and while all of the big stuff has been done there still remains a ton of small nagging things (that all add up!) and when I look around as a whole it becomes overwhelming...where to begin? So I have decided I will pick one small thing a day that is not on the standard house maintenance/cleaning list and do it...eventually it will all add up! Virgo
That's where I'm at too. I have so much that I want to do I'm not sure where to start. I have several ongoing projects. Posting daily goals helps.
Guest Questions
Good job everyone! I agree Virgo, there are so many projects to do it's hard to know where to start. I'm defaulting to yardwork a lot because I know the drill pretty well + soon summer'll be here & the heat'll become unbearable for the real labor intensive stuff. That said, over the past couple days I have mowed, edged, weeded & raked front back & sides, trimmed, mulched & watered trees & shrubs & repaired sprinklers. I was going to reward myself last night by turning on my patio mood lights, some music & relaxing outside, but one of the light strings was out so I ended up tracing & repairing a broken wire, then the door on my CD changer got stuck so I had to disconnect it, partially disassemble to free up the stuck gears inside & reconnect. Sheesh! Today I worked on my tan some (does that count as work? lol My legs are so white I'm embarrassed to wear shorts. My arms are super dark though. I've been alternating between front & back of my legs each day this week an hr at a time in the back yard. It's slow going but am making progress. A few more weeks & I might even look symetrical. I just got back from picking up supplies at the hardware store to: Stake my new tree out front properly. I read that in order to develop a strong enough root system to support itself a tree needs to be able to bend a bit in the wind. So off with the training wheels. Replacing it with 2 stakes outside the root ball & some loose fitting stretch tree ties. I also picked up some hose repair kits today. All 3 of my garden hoses are leaking at one place or another & is a lot cheaper to repair than replace them. It would be great not to get splashed in the face everytime I turn on the hose! or have puddles forming under every faucet. Due to the drought, water is in short supply here & I feel guilty wasting any. My aluminum can recycling bin outside is full so I need to bag & take cans to the recycling center tomorrow. ($50, can't complain! Also need to call & make an appt with my new dr. I just got health insurance after 5+ years of going without but still haven't been to see a dr/dentist yet. I'm going to see if my dr. can help me quit smoking. Also need a lot of dental work done. Some of it will be free since I qualified for Medi-Cal with no shared costs. Some will be very expensive & not sure how I'll manage to pay but grateful for the help I will be receiving. The list never ends... Like the saying goes: "Living is expensive..But it does include a free yearly trip around the sun" (((hugs to all)))
Virgo
My goals for this week: Drop Good Will donations off. Take items to the resale shop. Get groceries. Work out at least 3 times this week. IfIonlycould
Well I thought I had the day off today (with one hour I needed to spend on client work) but....client asked me to go take care of an insurance problem today so I need to get moving if I want to get everything accomplished! I made a slew of doctors appointments yesterday and have everything lined up for the next month and half to take care of woman's health, internist, dermatologist and my specialist...whew! So now today I need to: Clean house (vac, steam mop, bathrooms) Clean out fridge Work on getting laundry caught up Go to insurance agent for client and about an hour of paperwork for client File and get paperwork caught up for my business Grocery and get dinner together Getting going and will come back to check in and post what I need/want to accomplish the next few days.....I'm one of those that is able to do for others incredibly well but gets bogged down with my day to day life (a result of widowhead)...having this post really helps to keep me focused and is helping me get my head back on track to the person I used to be in this aspect. Trying
Not getting most of the bare minimum done this week let alone working on goals. I did do a good purge in DH's office this week, dentist and gyno appointments, so feel good about that. This weekend is full with sports and social stuff so I will make goals for next week. Next week: 1. Get oldest registered for fall semester 2. Schedule college visits for middle son 3. Clean out youngest sons closet and drawers 4. Make eye exam appointment You all are very motivating! Keep up the good work
IfIonlycould
Trying- keep up the good work too! I got all of my stuff done thursday plus got the oil changed and washed the car, put switch plate covers on where I had replaced outlets/switches and did some plaster patching. Today I was at a clients until 2:00 then went for my yearly womans check and mammogram. Tomorrow I need to: pick up a gift card for a wedding celebration dinner (they got married at the justice of the peace) go to my post office box pick up a few things at Trader Joes take back a sweater sand down where I patched plaster and apply another coat if needed clean the interior of my car and get gas keep plowing away at laundry (almost caught up)
IfIonlycould
Well I woke up today with one thing on my mind...my closets! I went through the 2 that I keep clothes and shoes in and did my first sweep (I find that if I do it in 2 sweeps it is less "stressful" letting go of stuff...I have a bag full of stuff headed to Salvation Army and a dozen items going to resale. And I feel way better! I also sanded, primed and painted the plaster patching I had done. And I am working on laundry. Now I'm going to get ready for the party I have to go to, stop and pick up the gift card (nothing like waiting until the LAST minute), stop at the post office box, take the sweater back, pick up a few things at Trader Joes and stop to get gas. Car interior cleaning is on hold til tomorrow. Amazing how I can gut and remodel an entire house but then get stuck in this little stuff that seems to grow out of control. What is the saying, "The devil is in the details?" I feel like I am really getting through all these little tasks that have been nagging at me and getting my home back in order...it is really making me feel good. rifatheroffour
Goals... such a funny and elusive thing these days. So maybe if I write them down somewhere public I'll have more drive to accomplish them. For today... Laundry, prepare for an Organic Audit at work on Monday morning and review & empty a few more boxes in the garage. But of course first goal is get out of bed! rifatheroffour
I did some laundry, could have done more... I did get some prep work for my audit done, and it went smooth and quickly this morning... I got quite a bit more done in the garage than I even expected... So... overall I'm happy with my goals and accomplishment for Sunday. Next... taking it easy tonight but will try to set more specific goals going forward.

I am in a bit of a funk, I've got stuff going on healthwise that I need to get through, in the meantime it sure does slow me down. I will be back to post and cheer folks on.... Trying
Not doing so great on the goals this week. My insomnia has been terrible which leaves me with little energy after working, kids stuff, making dinner. I have to work Sunday so not expecting a super productive weekend either. So for Saturday, aside from regular chores and a baseball game I am only setting one goal. 1. Clean out youngest sons drawers and closet and drop off decent stuff at Goodwill, bad stuff in donation bin. Ifionlycould, I hope your health issues ease up soon. IfIonlycould
I have a list of stuff I wanted to get done this weekend and then BF announced he was bringing some help and tearing out the old landscaping and red rocks from the front of the house....WOW! So my list is on hold as I had to be the runner to get things and tell him how I wanted it done...now I have to jump in the shower and hit the garden center as he wants me to get the foundation bushes so he can plant them and mulch today! Will be so nice to have most of the front landscaping done finally!!!!

IfIonlycould
We got all of the dated red rocks torn out from the front of house and in the bed between the driveway and house. I took hosta and split it and spread it in the bed along the driveway and then mulched. We planted the new foundation shrubs and accent tree, then mulched the bed...it looks amazing! and has crossed a HUGE project off of my to do list for this summer (this is the summer of the outside of the house). I was exhausted last night. Of course this put all of the other stuff I had written down to do the past few days on hold. So now I have to play catch up with the usual household chores, laundry etc. But I am so grateful for the project being done! This week I have a procedure being done on Thursday, it is surgery for a chronic issue I have and needs to be done about every 2 years so that of course is first and foremost on my mind. So goals this week: Clean house Catch laundry up Work at old job 10 hours mon and 6 hours weds. Client work all day tues. Get stuff together for surgery Take donations to Salvation Army Vacuum and spiff up interior of car. and since I need to rest: Get all papers filed Go through any old/outdated files Shred papers
MissingSquish
So I've gotten quite a few things done over the past two days that I've been putting off for weeks! Did a few loads of laundry Put the clean clothes away Did a load in the dishwasher Put the clean dishes away Went through old mail Shredded stuff I didn't need I'm just basking in the glow of having gotten enough motivated to get all of that done. I've got stuff that I need to do this week as well, but I'm on a roll!
Trying
Got youngest son's closet and drawers cleaned out, still need to take stuff to Goodwill Outside furniture is out, all ready to open pool in a week except for a leak we found today in a water line. IfIonlycould
OK I have fallen behind on stated goals but I did get some other stuff done so I don't feel too bad. This week is a big week to get stuff done, I have a couple friends coming tomorrow and we have alot to accomplish and then for the rest of the week there is even more! Pull up patio stones to create flower bed area. Make outside dining area with remaining patio stones. Put extra patio stones on side of garage to set garbage cans on. Take down the old lattice wall that was blocking previous owners hot tub. Possibly use part of lattice wall to create BBQ area. Pull up any rotting deck boards and replace. Make new step to deck area. Put up brackets for window boxes. Secure gutters that have come loose. Patch grass area where we removed tree. Straighten garage. Finally take stuff to Salvation army! Finally clean interior of car! Call sprinkler guy to come get the system up and running (previous owners let a pipe freeze). Varnish seagrass chairs on front porch. Keep house picked up and keep up on laundry.
MissingSquish
I need to get on the goals bandwagon too. Mine for the week: Sort out medical insurance stuff with old provider Submit out of network expenses for new provider Finally bring my headlights to be installed on other car Get replacement title for other car and start process to sell it Put away clean laundry Do dishes and put them in dishwasher Also, deal with the traffic ticket I got 3 weeks ago
