  1. I bought myself a journal to keep track of what I'm stuffing into my mouth. I also wrote down my measurements. I have gained 30 lbs since my husband died. It's time to lose that 30 plus another 30. I started a 30 day squat challenge today too. I just need to be consistent!!
  2. I was wondering Jess if you and Justin were still seeing each other, but didn't want to be nosey and ask. You are a cute couple! Cute photos MrsTim! Happy for all of you!
  3. I hope the move goes smoothly. Best wishes!!
  4. Amazing how many people you connected with during your travels. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I hope to see more photos. It sounds like it was very emotional, but healing too. I wish I would have read earlier on so I could have met up with you. I live in Indiana. Maybe next time you travel through. Many, many hugs Maureen.
  5. Congratulations, and enjoy your new car!! I will be searching for another vehicle this fall. My oldest daughter currently has her driver's permit, so we need a second vehicle. I'm excited for her, but I'm dreading going through the whole process. My husband was the type of guy that bought a new car every two years. He was a car nut! It will be bittersweet going without him.
  6. A whole year to train! I don't think it's weird that it's not something you would have done before. The loss that we've experienced changes us and our outlook. Good luck with your training!
  7. Good luck with your phone call! I've been reading the other thread about online dating. It's not very encouraging or appealing. I haven't started dating yet, but I'm open to the idea. I guess I won't really know if I'm ready until I actually go out on that first date.
  8. I feel the same way Jen! Phil and I were a 5-10 times a week couple. We rarely went more than 3 days without. Going from that to nothing is awful. I've had two FWB offers, but so far I've refrained. I'm not sure if I'm just not ready, or if I'm holding out for something more. Phil was my one and only.
  9. I do the same thing. At least a week before they go back to school I start sending them to bed a little earlier each night. My daughters are 16, 13, and 8. The older two fight me, but I figure they are old enough to deal with the consequences their first week back. Eventually they don't fight me on it because they are tired. My daughters start the 12th. Last night I had them shut down their devices earlier and get around for bed earlier. They have been going to bed really late this summer though.
  10. I agree! I know I'm a better mom when I make time for myself. It's just difficult for me during their summer break. My daughters are 16, 13, and 8. I actually think it would be easier if they were younger. Then they would be more excited about staying the night with my dad or in-laws, and less focused on what I'm doing while they're gone.
  11. I had a meeting with my insurance agent this month to update my policy. My agent had been sending me gentle reminders that I needed to have Phil's name removed from our policy. While I was doing that I made a few changes, but my rate didn't change much. It actually went down a little bit. She didn't mention my widow status.
  12. Is that a thing? A social life with kids? I'm beginning to wonder. Frustrating day! I can't even seem to get away to go to the gym during the summer. Mom guilt!
  13. Accomplished a couple of goals today. I dropped off the baby gift and sold items at the resale shop. I also bought some more baskets and bins for the basement. I started putting things back in the basement yesterday. I have something else to add to my list for this week. A trip to the animal clinic. We made an interesting discovery last night. Our kitten Penelope seems to have developed berries and a little twig. I'm not a vet, so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty positive we'll be changing Penelope's name to Pennington. That way we can still call him/her Penny or Pen. Our other two cats will eventually need spayed, but I'm more concerned about Penny right now. Always something!
  14. That is funny. I'll be the big 4-0.
  15. My birthday is August 28th.
  16. Carpet in the basement was cleaned yesterday. I can finally move everything back. We've been dealing with this since ithe basement flooded on July 3rd. The man cleaning the carpet was very nice. Attractive too He said he could come back and clean the other side of the family room once we get everything put back.
  17. Would making small daily goals help? Long lists can be overwhelming so maybe just choose one thing to accomplish daily. It's nice to be able to check items off of the list. The daily goals thread here helps me, accountability. It's hard to pull yourself out if a funk. You'll get there!
  18. Enjoy your vacation IIOIC! Sorting through the piles in my room, but my daughters bedrooms and closets are organized (mostly.) They both like more 'clutter' in their rooms than I do. Lol! When I'm done with the piles I'm going to start in the basement. The carpet in my craftroom is dry.
  19. First, congratulations on graduating from law school! Good luck with your bar exam. I agree that it sounds like the right decision for you and your children. You have obviously given it a lot of thought, so it's not a rash decision. We all fear the unknown, but we've all learned that there are no guarantees either. Life is ever-changing and we adapt to the changes.
  20. I had a series of unfortunate events recently and ended up laughing hysterically before breaking down and crying. I'm sorry about your dog.
  21. It is a pain that is so hard to describe to someone that hasn't experienced it themselves. We all know your pain. ((hugs)) I'm glad you were able to get some sleep.
  22. Peaks and valleys, we're always here to listen. ((hugs)) Jen!
  23. Asshole sounds like he will always be looking for 'something better'. In his mind anyway. Dump him. You deserve better.
